Why is OpenSim so such good platform for a DotNetNuke developer?

OpenSim reminds me a bit about the first DotNetNuke back in 2003 where it was I think 1.0.3 and it was seriously difficult to setup. OpenSim is still in alpha it has a lot of issues but it can run on XP/Vista/Win2003 Server, .net 2 so that does bring back some memories.

I hear some grumbles, muttering that people think technology is a replacement for face-to-face meetings and conferences are missing the point, and forgetting that technology is never a replacement. I agree to some extend to this notion, after all a meeting in your local town hall cannot be replaced by people joining it through second life. Well that is just too silly. However next week I am missing a great DNN conference in LA because I live in UK and travel was just not possible. so......
